What type of car do the mommies drive?
We are beginning the harrowing process of car shopping, we are thinking of minivan or small suv, or something of that order.
Please tell me what you have, what you like/dislike.
Thanks!

Re: What type of car do the mommies drive?
I am a mommy to be and I just got a pathfinder. I wanted a truck but I am not ready to be a minivan mom yet. I love the space I have and the security of a larger vehicle.

Re: What type of car do the mommies drive?
chrysler pacifica! But I had a BMW station wagon and I LOVED that car so much, we are either getting the VOLVO SUV or the Lexus SUV in January when our lease is up.
p.s- I don't love the pacifica, there are many blind spots.

Re: What type of car do the mommies drive?
we have a Camry right now and a Saturn, so the camry will be the family car for now. When we have the $$, we know we need a bigger, travelling car (our dogs will drive back and forth to NY with us) but I am SO not into the minivan thing.
My best friend just went from an Impala to a Chevy Trailblazer with 2 kids under 3 and LOVES it.

Re: What type of car do the mommies drive?
Toyota Highlander and I love it. It's an SUV that drives like a car. Only thing - don't bother with a sunroof. When it's open, there is a type of resonance - it's a high pressure in your ears. I really don't use my sunroof.

Honda Pilot (with a 3rd row)
I love it, but since the pp mentioned it, I also get some wind resonance with windows open, weird...

I think all SUV's get the sunroof ear pressure thing. I have heard this from everyone, just crack one of the other wondows and it balances out the noise.

Re: What type of car do the mommies drive?
2005 Ford Escape Limited. I love my truck. I could never go the mini-van route either. My next truck will be an Explorer, when my lease is up. The only bad thing is that they are gas guzzlers...this is when I miss my Honda Accord.

Right now we have a Saturn car. But, we are also going car shopping very soon. We are going to go mini-van shopping. Just trying to narrow down the ones we like.

Re: What type of car do the mommies drive?
John bought me a 2005 Honda Pilot just after John was born, its big enough for all his stuff and small enough that I dont feel like I'm driving an 18 wheeler. I had an explorer before that and it was too high and I had a hard time getting the baby in and out. Plus it has the 3rd row which is good.
We also have a 2003 Infinity G35, obviously its smaller but it does have great trunk capcity (his stroller fits fine) I just dont like the way the car seat sits in there, I feel it moves too much. I took the car to the fire department to check if the seat was in correctly and they said it was but I still feel nervous when I take him in that. Not to mention that car flies, you can be doing 35 feels like your doing 60

Re: What type of car do the mommies drive?
When we found out I was preggo, we turned in my leased VW Cabrio (not exactly a family friendly car!) and bought a 2001 Subaru Outback. It was a hard adjustment , but now I love my Subaru!

Re: What type of car do the mommies drive?
Tahoe - enough room for the doggie and a kiddie - but DH wants to sell it and get a Suburban. I'm fighting that as long as I can - it's just a tad too big for me and I love my Tahoe.
