I have been lurking on here for a while but finally got the courage to join in. My DS is 21 months. He is failure to thrive and has low muscle tone due to complications at birth. Luckily he seems to be on target cognitively, but is severly delayed physically. He sits and crawls and he has just started to pull to stand and babble. We receive OT, PT, ST, FT (feeding) and are getting a SE to help coordinate. We also go to a Mommy and Me class but I am not thrilled with it. I am hoping to find him another class appropriate for non-walking kids that would be a better fit for him. He loves music and books. We have been receiving EI since 3 months old and might be starting to look into preschool/EI toddler programs. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome! Chat Icon
My daughter also has very low muscle tone. Even though she's almost 6, she cannot run like other children. She attended ACLD Kramer Learning Center and had an amazing experience there.
I can also suggest (not sure where you're located?) that the YMCA in Bay Shore has a mommy and me class called Butterflies that is on Fridays and a SKIP swim class that caters to children in that age group with physical therapy needs. They have a therapist from Metro Therapy in the class and she's amazing.
Please feel free to FM me if you want more info!

Re: Introduce

DS has low tone and poor balance. He would trip a lot (due to low tone).

He does horseback riding since he is 3 yo. It has helped him so much. It's amazing!!!! His little abs are getting so strong. So is his back.

We started swimming also this weekend.

Thanks for the info. We live on the South Shore so the Bay Shore YMCA would be great for us.

Did EI pay for the horseback riding?
