High School Psychology class
Hello!
I am going to be teaching a high school introduction to psychology and an AP Psychology next fall. Any suggestions on interesting things to do. I know it's an early start but I'm just looking forward to the end of this school year.

I taught both regular and AP Psychology. Let me know if I can help.
For the AP I bought the Barron's book and they have a break down of what the test covers. I taught the course over a full year, so I took the days that I had with them (until end of April - so you can stop for review) and broke it down into the percentage Barron's said.
Since I had the full year, I was able to do some labs with them as well.

I work in a private school and someone is retiring, so I'm getting some of her classes.
Thanks for the info on the Barron's book. Any other tips of preparing them for the AP test. What sort of labs did you do with them?
We split the course into the science part and then the social science part. The students switch teachers in the middle of the year to get the expertise of a person from a particular field.

Which part are you doing? I did both parts, labs that worked best were the senses (optical illusions, hearing tests, etc) and therapy (I gave students vignettes on a disorder and one student had to practice using certain therapy techniques.)

I teach AP Psych. Before I started teaching the course I took a one week course at Manhattan college. It is for teachers of AP Psych. It was extremely helpful. The teacher gave us all sorts of information and packets of demonstrations. There was a lot of very useful information and a lot of Long Island teachers were in the class. I was able to get my district to pay for the class.
