What do you put in white rice to make it tasty?

I usually just do butter salt and pepper but looking for some other ideas.

Sometimes I put chicken stock or bouillion cubes in the water.

Chop a small onion. Saute it in a tbs olive oil and a tbs of butter for about a minute or two (do not brown). Add your rice, stir. Then add chicken stock(I don't like chicken broth, but you can use it), bring to a boil, reduce to low, cover until done.

You can make "garlic rice" which my son loves. Just add a couple of cloves of crushed garlic and about a tbs of butter and salt when adding your water to the uncooked rice.

brocolli with garlic and oil. It is so good.

Chicken stock if I want plain, but I love making it with lots of butter and onions too.

I sautee onions in olive oil and then add rice and stir to coat with oil and cook up a little. it gives it a nuttier flavor.

then I add either water or stock (beef,veggie, or chicken) and salt. sometimes also a few slices of bell pepper and if I want yellow rice, a packet of Sazon.

Besides the salt and oil, I also slice up some onion and put in right in the pot. Sometimes I also sprinkle a little adobo in there as well.

I chop a small onion (yellow or scallions) in tiny pieces and crush 2-3 large garlic cloves saute in olive oil on low until onions are translucent (do not brown garlic)
Turn up to high and add 2 cups of water or chicken stock per cup of rice and let it cook until water dissolves
Once water has dissolved turn on low and cover for 10-15 mins

I make rice almost daily and this is how I do it. If I use the rice cooker I just add all the above ingredients and set

my mom used to use a smidge of bacon fat.

- butter and parmesan cheese

- sauteed mushrooms with a "creamy" sauce white sauce

- broccoli and turkey bacon (cut in small pieces)

- safran

- peas

- veggies (stir fried squash and chopped onions). Sometimes add tomatoes to it (for a more mediteraneans feel to it) and sometimes eggplant cut in small cubes and maybe add some peppers. Up to your taste.

brown some thin egg noodles in butter, toss in the rice to coat in butter and then add chicken stock instead of water (I like the College Inn low sodium).

Sometimes after the rice is done, I'll throw in one of those steamer bags of peas and mushrooms

olive oil, curry, cinnamin, kosher salt...mmmm. but i use basmati or jasmine rice

I just made Chipotle's "Skinny" Cilantro Lime Rice tonight. It was sooo good! Basically, you add chopped cilantro, fresh lime juice, and vegetable oil to your cooked rice. It's nice if you're making Mexican food one night and want an easy, quick rice dish.
