Couch to 5k- I want to do it...I need to start...somewhere.

Im a mom of twins and an almost 4 yr old. Work F/T.

I am back to pre pg weight, thanks to WW but its in different places and I dont like.

I have heard of so many successful stories and most started this way.

I am not or ever was a runner.

I can do this right?

I dont own a treadmill.

I have to find time to do it and I dont know where to start.

Sorry for all the "I's"

What is this exactly? Maybe I'll try it after Insanity!

Deb - come with me to Zumba. They have a special for new members $50 for 10 sessions (its normally $100)

I have so many new people coming with me now and they all love it!

Me too!! I was going to start it next week but I am not and never was a runner. Hopefully I become one of those people who learn to love it but I just don't see it. It will always be something I HAVE to do to tone up.

Can you FM me the info too please? I started doing zumba 1x a week, but I need something else to do. With the weather getting nicer, I need to be able to go outside and take DD with me (and she won't sit in a stroller, she's 4 1/2).

You can do it.. I did it. I was never a runner.. in fact.. i always HATED running. Now I kinda like it... I think i'll like it a lot more when I can run on the boardwalk now that I live in Long Beach. It's nice to get out and be away from the gym!! it also gives me time to myself..which i imagine will be awesome for a mommy of 3 :)

I will say that I didn't finish the entire program. After I was able to run for 20 minutes straight, I just gradually started adding more minutes. I was so sick of the music by that point..lol I took a hiatus for awhile, but I got right back on the treedmill and ran for 20+ minutes straight, so I'm back to adding more minutes. Next is my speed!

You can definitely do it, I have no question about you handling the physical part. But honestly it is going to be very very hard to schedule with working f/t and having the 3 little ones. Can you have DH pick them up from daycare some days? That would allow you to get home first and do a half hour workout... thats how I did it when i worked f/t.

Re: Couch to 5k- I want to do it...I need to start...somewhere.

Couch to 5k MADE me a runner. I had never run before and just got up one day and did it. Felt great. You HAVE to find that 1/2 hour 3x somewhere in your week. Running has done wonders for my mental health as well as my body. I love running outdoors. Such a ramble, but I remember the first time I did c25k I was fighting w/ my husband. I walked into the bedroom, threw on some sweats and just started the program right there. (I had the app on my phone for months.) I came back About 30 minutes later completely renewed. I was sold! Do it!

You can do it! I did the program several years ago and I'm still running! Just follow the program, don't worry about your speed, it will come with time, just keep going! Also, if you need to repeat a week, do so, there is no "one size fits all" training plan.

My personal opinion - get a treadmill. I know how difficult it is to manage with the kids and I think i've read on here that your husband is NYPD and that schedule is horrific (I know because I lived it).

I think if you have it in your house, when the kids go to bed, just get on it. For now, it will work and you'll love it!

Re: Couch to 5k- I want to do it...I need to start...somewhere.

I did it and now I love running. I actually get sad if I can't fir a run in. Check craigs list for a double jogger and take the twins with you when your 4 year old is at school. Assuming s/he is in school. I also used the running into shape pod casts. I still use them now even though I am past them. Running is the only way I can lose weight and keep it off. I ballooned up to a size 16 a 8 years ago and am now down to a size 8. I lost a lot of it with diet and cardio weight training but could not get below a size 12. Running is the edge I needed. I am now back to the size I was in high school (I'm now 32 years old and a mother to 2). It can seem hard at first but stick with it and you will see great results. Good luck Chat Icon

Can someone share this with me, please? And what are these pod casts or downloads?

You can do it.

Just start from the beginning.

It is very beginner friendly Chat Icon

I would complement if you have the time with Zumba (you know I'm a fan) but really, the results for me didn't become notoiceable until I started running....
