Share your worst kiddie horror stories!

Don't remember seeing this on here before so I thought we could all share our most traumatic kiddie stories and do a collectiveChat Icon orChat Icon

I block a lot of these experiences but the worst I can recall is on a flight from Jfk to Phoenix with a little devil sitting/kicking/screaming behind me the entire way; packed flight no where to go. Got up, gave the mother the stink eye and she just gave it right back. I think being in a situation where you can't leave is the WORST!

Re: Share your worst kiddie horror stories!

when I was babysitting & we were playing hide & seek outside....or so, I thought...and they locked me out of the house, and I saw one of them dangling the key in the window with a smirk.

............I get mad thinking about it still.......

I truly feel certain kids are enough to make your tubes tie themselves.

Re: Share your worst kiddie horror stories!

We went to a family wedding in FL last spring and made the mistake of flying back from Orlando. Being CF we didn't make the connection that Orlando = plane full of young children vacationing at Disney.

The flight was full of parents who did not book seats next to their children and who were trying to get others to switch with them. It was chaos, and when the flight attendants finally rearranged the entire plane we found out we were delayed at least 2 hours and were given the option to get off the plane. Chat Icon Chat Icon When we reboarded, the same chaos went on a second time people people took eachothers seats. Throw in a few handfuls of screaming babies and children who were extra cranky from the massive delays, grouchy and exhausted parents, and the delays which were driving us up the wall too... one would start crying and it would set off a few others. It was so awful that it was pretty funny actually -- like an "is this really happening?" situation.

We are now expecting Chat Icon and I'm scared to death of flying with a baby!

Re: Share your worst kiddie horror stories!

My friends (young couple) have twin boys, they are now 4 years old but not too long ago they made the mistake of taking them to dinner with us at a family-style restaurant in Staten Island.

The boys couldn't be left alone for 1 minute - they actually got up in the middle of dinner and started RUNNING around the entire restaurant screaming "hidey-ho I am a pirate! hiiiddeeeeee-hooo!!". They then made it to one of the condiment tables (where you get napkins, mustard, ketchup, fountain soda, straws, etc) and started taking out the straws from the bin and squirting mustard all over them...

My friends had to excuse themselves several times during the meal to run after them and were constantly apologizing for their behavior..It was just very sad and to this day, they wont take their kids out anywhere because they can't control their kids. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

16 hour flight from JFK to Hong Kong. A zillion kids on the plane and screaming 10 month old behind us. I really did feel awful for the family though. The mom had a migraine and dad took care of the baby, walking him up and down the aisle for most of flight...It sucked for us but was wayyy worse for them!

I used to be friends with this woman that had the most obnoxious kid. One day he came up to me and out of no where punched me in the stomach. It took every ounce of restraint not to punch him back. He was 4-5 years old? Old enough IMO to know better.

OMG This reminded me of the movie Due Date where the kid was being annoying and Zach Galafinakis punched him.

Re: Share your worst kiddie horror stories!

Flying with a crying baby stinks, but it's a baby..what can be done, it's difficult. The older kids are another story, parents should get some control.

My worst kid story is this past Christmas - I posted it. My BFF, her DH, her DD (who is my Goddaughter) and her StepDaughter came for Chrsitmas - the SD - who is 12 years old- told my 4 year old nephew, in front of my sister, that there was no Santa Claus, on Christmas Eve. Then lied she did it and said my sister was a liar. When pushed, she said "what difference does it make, there is no Santa anyway."

But before I found this out, she sent a text to her Mother, - : I got my gifts - come and get me, I'm done here. "

I swear to God, I've never wanted to hit anyone so bad in my entire life. She is an evil child who will NEVER be at my house again.

Then I had to spend 3 extra days with her because we had a blizzard and they couldn't fly home. It was a nightmare.

WOW! that 12 yr old seems like she has some real deep rooted issues and possibly anger issues as well. Seems like she needs some sort of therapy. I'm nervous for your BFF when this little girl turns 15 or 16!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

They didn't book seats next to their kids? Or the airline didn't book the seats together? This has happened to me before and it wasn't my doing at all.. it was the airlines. I booked 2 tickets at the same time... so duh of course I wanted them next to each other.. only I get to the counter and they gave me tickets that weren't together... I had them switch that (this happened on at least 2 separate occasions). Other times I booked tickets at the same time and they were together. IMO if you are booking the tickets at the same time, esp with the same form of payment, it's understood you want them to be together and you shouldn't have to specify. I see this as more of an airline issue.

Re: Share your worst kiddie horror stories!

Ahhh I just had one on my lunchbreak! I was shopping in Strawberry on 42nd St. and a woman and her son were there. The kid must've been about 7 or 8, old enough to know better. The mom was shopping peacefully, humming to herself, while her son was following behind her repeating again and again loudly "Mom, mommy, momma, mom, mommy, I want my toys! Mom, mommy, momma, mom, mommy, I want my toys!" Literally non-stop for at least 10 minutes. The only reason the kid eventually stopped was because he found the dressing rooms and decided to go running into the dressing room and start banging on all the doors. Chat Icon

I think my tubes tied themselves.

ETA: The mother said nothing, didn't even notice when the kid disappeared into the dressing room. I was beginning to believe she had a legitimate hearing problem until she heard her god awful ringtone chiming from her bag. THAT she could hear. Chat Icon
