Missing the first day of soccer?
This is her first time playing, and we are supposed to go away the weekend it starts. Think it's a big deal to miss the first practice/game? She is 5, and I know if given the choice she would pick to go away.

Re: Missing the first day of soccer?
In our league, especially at age 5, it's all about the kids having fun, and getting used to being on a team and learning the basics. It's not a travel team where if you miss a practice, you miss the next game. The first day, though, the snack schedule is usually made up, and any changes to the practice schedule is done, so you may miss out more than DD does....

I wouldn't worry about it.
My DS is going to miss the first game this season too, he's been sick and I don't think he's going to have medical clearance by then.

I wouldn't worry about it but contact the coach for any handouts beforehand. He can probably email/scan them to you.

Re: Missing the first day of soccer?
In my town, soccer at that age is all about practice and working together about a team. Definitely talk to the couch beforehand to let him know you she is going to miss the game and to find out what you will miss.
Have a good vacation!

Re: Missing the first day of soccer?
It's not a big deal. They're 5. Even if they are 10, they can miss, things come up. Like others said, just let the coach know so they can be prepared. Enjoy your trip.
