multiples sono question
So I made my first appt with my MFM today and they said they allot 90 minutes for a triplet sono! What the heck are they going to look at for an hour and a half?!?!?!?!? They were only 11mm last week. They are little teeny tiny blobs. I could see if I was further along.
So what will they be looking at/for AND what else should I expect/look forward to for my first consult? TIA

Re: multiples sono question
most likely measurements, and since there is 3..it can take up more time than the average singelton sonos.
I remember being there every other wk and it was the same routine outside of the 20wk sono.
ETA; also the sharing of sacs or not, placentas etc.

Re: multiples sono question
Get use to be on the table a long time.... I had sonos done every time I went to the Dr. They want to make sure all 3 babies are growing, that there is enough bloodflow and the placentas are all OK. Its totally normal.

Re: multiples sono question
I'm having twins, but all of my sonos are a minimum of 30 minutes, 20 week (level II was 2 hours and fetal echo was almost 3 hours).
My twins are sharing a placenta so they are always checking blood flow from placenta to each baby, measuring bellies/heads/femurs, watching 4 chambers of the heart, and so much more.

Re: multiples sono question
I get a sono everytime I go to the doctor and it's about an hour. They measure your cervix, and check your uterus. Also, they have to check in detail all the babies. I really enjoy it, because I get to see them every 2 weeks.

Re: multiples sono question
Ditto what everyone said.
The big thing for me was line of sight. Very often one twin would be "blocking" the other and we'd have to coax him to move out of the way. That's made everything take longer so your doc probably just wants to prepare you for how long it MIGHT take. You might luck out and be done a little sooner if your little ones cooperate.
I always enjoyed the sonos because I got to see what was going on "in there."
