question for FTWMs
Hi,
I don't have school-aged children, but have a question about when my 2 little ones are in school. Who picks them up and takes care of them until you get home? My grandmother always took care of me after school. It doesn't look like I am going to have a similar situation where family can pick up my kids and watch them until we get home. Is a part time nanny who drives my only option? They are in daycare now and DH rushes to get home to pick them up by 6. There is no way I can make it home by 6 on a regular basis. What do I do when their day ends at 3???
Many thanks!

Re: question for FTWMs
Hi Kristina!
I am fortunate and blessed to have my mother who takes care of my kids but I will tell you that they have before and afterschool programs..
being that I have my mom, she picks him up at 2:25 when they let out but come September, he (and his sister) will be in both the morning and afterschool programs.. so they go in at 7:30 until 6 pm

Oh that is a relief! Thank you! They didn't really have things like that when I was growing up. I just remember most kids having their moms or grandparents pick them up. daycare is soooo expensive and i was trying to figure out how long I would have that expense, and wondered if it would continue even after they were in school. Thanks again for responding!

Re: question for FTWMs
We do the aftercare program at the school. They get their homework done & have a few hours to play with their friends.

Re: question for FTWMs
your daycare center might also be able to take them after (if it's within the district, the kids can take the bus there)
Next year, I'm lucky that I will be able to squeak home just as the bus pulls up at 4:10.

Re: question for FTWMs
Many districts have after care (although rumor has it, thats on the chopping block for MANY districts this year with budget stuff).

Re: question for FTWMs
Most schools have an after school program, my DD was in that for a year then we had a neighbor help out when family wasn't around.
