just heard that on Leonard Lopate and had to laugh...
I though Bloomie said yesterday that polls don't matter? I hope this tells the business world that schools are a completely different entity and you need experts in education.

Dennis Walcott is NYC public school graduate (Francis Lewis HS in Queens).
His kids attended NYC public schools.
If nothing else, he has some exposure to NYC pubic schools.
I hope this is good for the schools and good for the kids.

Not sure this is such a great thing. Walcott does not seem like any better of a choice. He has agreed with all the horrible things going on in the city schools and will continue to support them.
I can't believe going to NYC public schools and having children in them and o yeah teaching kindergarten for 2 years a million years ago is what counts as being qualified. Although Cathie Black was a ridiculous choice I don't think he's any better. At least she was fresh eyes questioning some of this foolishness that has been going on.

I think that whoever Bloomberg puts in office will follow his agenda. Since I do no agree with his agenda then I will likely not care for Walcott.
But I appreciate that he has an idea of how NYC public schools are run. Will that help? I hope so, though you may be right
