which is better- fondant or whipped cream
I am deciding on a cake for DD's birthday party. If I get something fancy, with flowers and butterflies, I am sure the cake will be done in fondant and not whipped cream. I have never had fondant. Although it makes the cakes pretty, is whipped cream a more enjoyable cake? I don't want to spend $$$ on a pretty cake that no one enjoys- KWIM?

I personally like to LOOK at a fondant cake but not EAT it. Bring me whipped cream anyday

I don't think fondant tastes very good... looks great, but I would much rather eat buttercream of whipped cream.

Ditto. Or buttercream.
ETA: Fondant isn't BAD necessarily and we always put a layer of whipped cream or buttercream underneath the fondant so that helps with the taste.

Fondant looks so nice but i think it taste nasty.. All my cakes are always buttercream. If you get a good bakery they will do just as good a job with buttercream then they would do with fondant.

I hate the taste of Fondant...completely ruins the taste of the cake.

many places will put fondant over buttercream and then you can take off the fondant when you cut the slices and have the buttercream on the cake. This way it looks pretty and tastes good! :)

yup! the buttercream adheres the fondant to the cake...
store bought fondant is gross, homemade - marshmallow & sugar fondant is delicious & super sweet!
