Managing retirement account
So I'm interested to see how people handle their retirement accounts.

Re: Managing retirement account
My FA and I talk periodically through the month and make changes where appropriate.

Re: Managing retirement account
I look at it once every few months. Not something I need to be involved with on a day to day basis.
I have been maxing out my 401k for the last 10 years. It will grow regardless of what the market does.

Re: Managing retirement account
I keep an eye on it, but so far, even through the recession, I've been pretty happy with it's performance so I just leave it alone.
I still have a looooong way to go before I retire. It is probably something I will concentrate on more in 10-15 years.

Re: Managing retirement account
I look at least once a month. I have a great relationship with our FA (20+ years) and she is usually on track with what is going on and updating us when needed.

Re: Managing retirement account
watch it often but rarely make changes. DH and I each max out our 401ks and have them in target year funds that in theory should adjust for us. We also have a few IRAs but once we contribute we generally leave them as-is. We rarely buy and sell, we usually just buy and let things sit. The only exception has been stocks but even then we don't buy and sell often.
