Back Issues & feeling sad?

I had 2 hospitalizations and surgery each time since Feb 14. Both to remove broken disk that broke off of a herniated disk. The 1st surgery I was home recovering for 3 wks (unable to do anything) when I had tremendous pain again, and after f/u w/ Dr @ ER this disk broken again and needed to be removed. While the Dr. was doing the surgery he noticed that my L4 facet joint broke, therefore leaving me home to recover w/ a brace. I have been unable to bend, lift, really do anything including picking up or holding my 19 month old daughter. I am home from work b/c of this. It has been a total of almost 11 wks home unable to do anything. I go to the DR on Tuesday to see if this broken joint is healing and what not but I just feel so sad often....I know the Dr said it is normal but it is horrible!!! I am already on some antidepressants for anxiety issues non related to this but has anyone else experienced feeling sad due to an injury or of a similar situation?

When I was out of work for a month with pulmonary embolisms I went thru many periods of depression, feelings of worthlessness and extreme anxiety.

Re: Back Issues & feeling sad?

besides infertility , i have anxiety disorder.
add that to a proven inner ear disorder, torn meniscus in my knee, multiple bulging discs in my back and 15 ulcers, oh and migraines.

seriously... i feel as though its always something.

and i try to be optimistic but sometimes the pain from these differnt issues is sooo unbearable taht i get reallllllllllly sad. then i get mad cause i think i must be a big baby. then i get scared bc i worry i will always feel xyz problem

i do therapy and try to keep my head on straight. somedays arent so bad but some days i just wanna crawl in a hole and be a druggie bc of the pain, but i dont.

you really arent alone, but its sooo hard when you are going through something chronic or acutely painful t see the light at the end of the tunnel.

i hope you feel better soon!
