lab bleeding from rectum?
My 2 yr old lab had bad diarrhea and threw up yesterday. I thought it was from the snausage treat he had. It was the first time he had eaten one. I figured it didn't agree with him. He was the fine the rest of the night. This morning he ate breakfast and then I let him out to "go" and he was in his "poop position" but wasn't going. I was watching him so I could clean up and blood came out. No poop just blood. Do you think this is from the treat or something else? I am taking him to the vet later today. He is eating/acting fine otherwise. Thanks for any help!

Re: lab bleeding from rectum?
It could be he was straining and some blood vessels burst... I've had that happen with one of my pups... .but definately take him to the vet and keep us posted!!

Re: lab bleeding from rectum?
He could also have an infection in his anal glands. I'd check around and make sure he didn't eat something that could cause a blockage also.

The vet thinks it was from straining and he is just fine now. "Going" regular and back to normal. Thanks for your help!

Yes, his anal glands could be severely impacted.
