Re: dog farts
One of my dogs farts a lot, the other doesn't. We were paying attention to food, treats, etc. trying to narrow it down. The one thing that appears to be the cause was something I didn't even consider.
Her gas is the worst on days she's here with me in the office. Which stinks for myself and my coworkers obviously, especially since we have a closed door meeting each Thursday afternoon and there's no getting away from it.
I finally asked DH if she is that bad during the day when she's home with him and he said no. There's no difference in food, but there is a difference in behavior. When she's energetic, and responding excitedly to every little noise or movement, the gas is worse. When I take her for an extra long walk and tire her out, it's not as bad.
So we're trying out the assumption that the excitement of coming to my office is what's causing it, I'm getting her more exercise in the morning and early afternoon on office days, and right now she's laying on my foot, gas-free.

Re: dog farts
This was the first sign of my dog's food allergies. His gas got so bad that it would wake me up at night. We changed his food and the gas went away.

Re: dog farts
It might be soy in the food, we had this problem with Schultz. Find a dog food with no soy - ProPlan does not have soy. The vet told us it would take about a month after being on the new food for the gas to go away (for the most part).. and it worked.

Re: dog farts
Could be that he needs his anal glands excreted. I had the same issue with my schnauzer and got excreted two weeks ago (simple process that the vet does - can even teach you to do it at home) and no problems since.
