DS used the iTouch for the first time yesterday
and can I say.....
BEST INVENTION EVER!!!!
We went to the diner for Father's Day and it's the first time in about a year we have been able to sit in a restaurant and finish a meal (other than for a slice of pizza) without a lot of drama. Once DS saw the Moose and Zee app, he was riveted.
Thanks to those who gave me suggestions for apps!

The iPad has been a lifesaver for us as well. DH lost his iTouch so I definitely need to get a new one. It's so nice and compact.
Congrats on having a nice time out.

I downloaded 2 seasons of DS' favorite TV show, The Backyardigans. So compact! A complete life savior.

That's great! How old is your DS? I would love to eventually try this with my son, but not sure if it's worth getting at 2 yrs old.

Re: DS used the iTouch for the first time yesterday
We just got an iPad thinking it'd be great for DS since he's got such an obsession with phones, we can't give him ours. He LOVES the iPad and is really able to focus right on the content of the game/activity. He caught right on to how to use it immediately. Even his OT told me how good it would be for fine motor, motor planning, hand eye coordination, etc..
Those Apple people - they're smart!

Re: DS used the iTouch for the first time yesterday
Josie, he is 3.5. I thought about getting one for a while, because he has a smart board in his preschool class and I knew he would probably figure out how to use it right away. I have also seen him scroll through photos on one of his therapists phones, so I was pretty sure he would have no problem with it.
It really is amazing how quickly they pick this up and I think Apple is finding a niche market in the special needs community, since our kids really seem to respond well to the devices.
