Re: IBS
I have it too. Nothing seems to work. I eat something and it bothers me. I eat it again at another time and it doesn't. There is no rhyme or reason. I can go months without a symptom but when it hits, it hits. Its awful....

Same here. I used to think I knew what foods bothered me but now I have no idea anymore. It seems to be totally random but happens at the worst times! I live off pepto and Immodium...

Re: IBS
IBS-C...for over 20 years...So bad... I usually will know what is going to bother me, but sometimes I will get an attack out of no where.. It got worse after I had my son. He is 20 months now. I am also lactose intolerant on top of it.. Right now I am going on 7 days without going to the bathroom. Nothing helps me go!!! I just have to wait it out and hope I go before 14 days!! Or I have to go to the ER...

Re: IBS
me too.
I actually alternate. Can't go for a few days and have such stomach pain and then can't stop for a day with bad pain as well. It's very hard to deal with. I feel like it really takes a toll on you mentally as well as physically. It's always in the back of my mind when planning a trip or even just going out for the night.
I've been told that Anti-Anxiety meds can help with it.. has anyone ever tried that route?

i went from years of IBS-D to this... I actually took Lexapro for 1.5 years. it helped at first, but then the IBS -C with D every week or 2 when I would finally go kicked in. Been living like this for years now. Now taking miralax daily... its actually helping keep me regular, i recommend it!

Re: IBS
ibs-d here. just about 15 years or so now..
same as others above - no rhyme or reason. could eat the same thing every day and react differently every single day....
the ONLY thing that has ever worked was pregnancy. my god - being constipated was the best thing that EVER happened to me. i'll take every other symptom and some STUNK - but to be constipated for 8 out of the 9 months was heaven...
the hardest part is food....i'm just so tired of food - it all makes me go...so it's frustrating. even when i don't eat - i still go. I spoke to a doc about that and he said that we all start every day with like 20 ounces of liquid in our stomach - that helps food digest and if we don't eat at all - we digest that liquid - hence why i go if i don't eat.
i wish there were some long term fix....it's really horrible to live this way....

Re: IBS
Exercise! Cardio imo is the best thing for IBS and the only thing that has ever helped me. I had horrible IBS-C. I would not go to the bathroom for days and Id literally throw up b/c of it. Drinking water and cardio really helps the bowels moving and that is literally the only thing that gets me on the treadmil. I also avoid dairy as much as I can b/c I feel that makes it a lot worse.

Re: IBS
Don't you all hate how everyone asks you "what did you eat", "what upsets your stomach" ? Its so nice to know that other people know what its like and that no specific food every triggers the problem

This is what i'm hoping for...but some people say its the opposite for them...that all their IBS symptoms were intensified.
I also suffer from IBS-D and I can't take it anymore. I was going to start seeing another gastro...and then I thought, for what? To subject myself to all the horrible tests again? No thanks.

exactly!! why go through all the nasty tests again when NOTHING has changed?
i've even gone so far as to do anti-depressants that have constipation as a side effect - but that didn't work either....
