The Pet Company in the Bayshore Mall is closed!
I was there a few weeks ago and it was completely empty. But the sign was still up.
Yesterday, the sign was taken down. 
But it does make me think - what do they do with any of the dogs they had? Do they give them to shelters?

AWESOME!!!! I hated that place. I wish I knew what happened to the animals that were there and I pray that they are in good homes.

Not sure about this place, but the other place that closed gave their dogs to a shelter and they were up for adoption on their site.

They have another store in Roosevelt Field and Massapequa. They also have some stores in Jersey and upstate. Knowing them, the dogs, cats and small animals were most likely split up between the LI and Jersey stores.

My brother worked at Petco for almost all of high school, left to pursue other things. Ended up working at The Pet Company during college. He left after two days because of their practices with how they cleaned up after and treated the animals. Glad that they closed!

Ohhhh! I have to find out! I know they have stores all over the place. They've moved dogs from georgia to Ny and vice versa so i'm quite sure the dogs went to another store if they are still open in any of the other states. If not then they probably went to shelters or were placed in homes.

Im very ashamed to admit it but we got our IG from there 2 years ago.  It was before I was aware of how everything works and what I was actually supporting by buying him from them. I love him to death and he's such an awesome dog but it sucks that we did that.
So glad that so much is being done to crack down on all of these pet shops!

I was at RF on Wednesday and that location was still open.
I did notice they added more cages around the place. They had at least 3 new stand alone cages with multiple dogs in them. Maybe those are the dogs from the other locations?
