Some tips for getting hired

I am no expert, but I see so many saying how people get called for interviews and never get the job. I have gotten every job I've interviewed for, for the most part(and I've had a few) I am in sales, but maybe my tips will help you.

1. Perfect your resume. It should be short(no more than 2 pages) concise and clearly spell out your experience. If you have no experience-just out of school, then focus on skill set along with whatever experience you have.

2. Tweak your experience to fit the job description-I never send a static resume. For instance if a job desc states they are looking for someone who has had profit and loss responsibilities, I will look at my experience and se what I can tweak to fit that...I don't lie-but I make my experience fit what they are looking for.

3. Have a template for your cover letter, but personalize it to that job. Pull key words out of the job description and add those in. Look up the person wo is in charge of HR and add their name.

4. If you are really interested in a position, look that person up on LinkedIn, Facebook or Twitter and see if you can give yourself a little push to the top. I used Facebook to get in touch with the recruiter for my most recent position. They were looking for event experience which I did not have, but I messaged him on Facebook and told im why I was a great candidate.

5. Interview-Be confident! Feel you are the best person for the position and they are losing out if they don't hire you. Consider your answers carefully, but try to be as natural as possible. They want to see someone at ease with themsleves and able to handle stressful situations.

6. ALWAYS send a thank you letter. E-mail is fine IMO. Talk specifically about the interview and what facets of the job appealed to you and ow it applies to your skill set. For example, I was very intrigued by our discussion of x. This would be a great fit for me because of X..

Hope this helps someone and anyone else feel free to add!
