50mm 1.8 won't autofocus

It makes a noise like it's trying to focus, but it won't. Works on manual focus. The bag that it was in dropped.....and while there was a lot of stuff in the bag, I guess the lens felt the impact. Does anyone know how to fix this myself? It's a cheap lens ($115), so if I can't fix it, I won't bother with a camera shop since it's probably not worth it. Stinks because we are going on vacation this week, and this is my "go to" lens for just about everything.

Which brand and how long have you had it?

I bought a used Nikkor 18-200mm that was still under warranty. Auto focus stopped working about a week after I got it, I brought it to the Nikon repair shop on Rte 110 and they fixed it for free and has been working great for a few years since.

If its a Nikon, you can take it their service center on 110 in Melville and drop it off!
