Those of you who work from home

I have the option to work from home more, due to space issues at work.

Also my role is completely changing, so I will not have a caseload, therefore, I can really work from anywhere.

How do you stay disciplined though?

It's so hard to get distracted, especially by LIF.

Re: Those of you who work from home

DH works from home. He is forced to get up and dressed since he gets DS#1 ready for school and takes him to the bus stop (he is adding #2 to the routine in September)

I think actual work and conference calls do take up most of his time and he wants to be done at 5 o'clock, so he keeps that in his head to not wander.

He uses OUtlook to schedule most of his day - down to when the bus is coming. But he definitely takes time (he says lunch) to go behind our house (there's 20+ acres) to hit golf balls...LOL

You have to stay disciplined. I work from home 2 days/week and I know that if I don't get my work done, my WFH privilege could be taken away. I keep that in mind at all times.

I find that sitting at a table helps, though I usually sit on the couch and dont listen to my own advice.

Re: Those of you who work from home

in an effort to be less stressed I work 1 or 2 days from home, for the summer I set my self up out on my deck in the shade and I find that I'm so thrilled be home and in my backyard that I'm really productive.
I take a few breaks to go on LIF or read personal emails usually while I'm eating lunch. I have also discovered the best thing ever- I can watch cablevision on my Ipad outside so when I'm not on the phone I have HGTV on while I'm working.
My phone calls are mostly scheduled, so I need to have my head in the game for that, other things I work on have deadlines so I can't really slack.

I don't work from home on a regular basis, but do every now and then. On the days that I do, I am so much more productive. I think I am happier and more relaxed and can focus more.

I work from home on Fridays.

I do not open my Internet browser. NOT AT ALL. That is the only way for me not to spend time on LIF.

I also sit at a desk and put on my headphones (no music) to block out noise.

I am sooooooo much more productive at home. I can get into a zone b/c I am not distracted by co- workers

Re: Those of you who work from home

I don't routinely work from home, but the days that I do, I lock the door to the office, so DC and DW don't interrupt me. As long as I don't have distractions from them, I'm pretty good at staying focused on work.
