Do you give your kids sugar-free foods?
Like yogurt w/ splenda or nutrasweet or sugar free ice cream or diet soda?
I have a few friends that regularly give their kids these foods but I always thought they were a no-no for kids!
We were on a play date and DD's friend was having this chocolate covered ice cream for dessert. I never thought it would be sugar free so I said yes when she offered to my kids. I found out later that it was a sugar free and made w/ that sugar free chocolate ingredient Maltitol which is a sugar substitute. I know one serving isn't the end of the world but I would never regularly give these foods to my kids.
What do you think?

I try not to. If it's all that's offered, it's fine. I do look at the sugar content in food & also try to stay away from corn syrup.

Nope. My DS has issues with his digestive system already, and that stuff can give you diarrhea so I really try to avoid it.

Yeah DS had a bad diaper later that night after eating the chocolate covered ice cream. That's when I realized it was sugar free!!

Sometimes. I'm diabetic, so we only have diet soda in the house. DC don't drink much soda, so if they do, it's diet at home. DS likes the Mio water flavoring, which is sugar free, but doesn't have it all the time.
Most stuff isn't sugar-free, though.

They wouldn't even touch it.
The only thing they consume is SF gum.

Nope - never. And DH and I don't eat sugar-free foods either. Only possibility is sugar free gum.

I try not to..once in a blue moon she may have something if thats all that is offered, but not on a regular basis.
