adopting kittens
After grieving for my two cats that died, (one in December, one in January) I have started looking into adopting a kitten for sometime in October. I am moving to Sydney, where DH is from and I have started looking up places where we can adopt a kitten. I have had four cats over my lifetime and not once have i adpoted from a shelter; we always have just got cats from the neighbourhood as strays.
What are some things I should look for in a shelter? What should come with the cat (i.e. shots)?
I want to make sure I am getting the kitten from a good shelter. I hope this question makes sense .

Re: adopting kittens
i know you mentioned looking in shelters...
but i showed a house today...
when we walked into the LR, we were pleasantly surprised by the site of THE most ADORABLE little kitten EVER!!!!!! soooooooo cute, and soooooooo tiny!!! the homeowner said her daughter found her/him (not sure if it was a male or female)...and brought her home.....but that she was looking for a good home for the kitten because she really couldn't keep her/him....
let me know if you're interested and i'll give you the info!

Thanks for letting me know and as much as I want a cat right this moment, I cant. Since I am moving overseas (Australia), they are really strict about anything that comes into the country. They even xray your bags AFTER you go thru customs! B/c they do not have rabies over there, they require a 6 month quarantine and I don't think this is a good idea for a kitten. Thanks anyway!
