How can this be right? (re: measurements taken by trainer)
I went to a personal trainer today for a consulation (came free with a new bootcamp type class i'm taking).
He took my weight, body fat analysis then did all my measurements.
I was shocked to see 44" written down for my hips. I wear a size 10 pretty much everywhere, with no problem. I am curvy, so i expected to see 40-something for hips but when i researched it, it says 44" hips equates to a size 16. Which i'm not.
Kinda weird, no? The measurements may have just been off...or do you think its possible to have 44" hips and wear a size 10?
OH yeah..and my body fat was a lot hight than i thought...not fun!

Size charts have changed a lot over the years, so he might be using an old one. I think 0's used to be 4-6, etc.
When I was shopping for my wedding dress, I remember having to go up several sizes and being pretty bummed about it. They use the old size charts, too.
Don't let the it get you down!

was this your first session? I found that my initial measurement at a boot camp place was not good. I think they do it so when they measure you at the end it seems like there was so much improvement.

Sometimes I wonder if they put the tape measure around really loosely during the initial measurement so that at the end they put it around tighter and there is a bigger improvement.

Why not just buy a tape measure to check your measurements for yourself?
Clothing size means nothing, especially considering how inconsistent they are even within brands.

Go get a flexible tape measure! I am a certified trainer & aerobics instructor and once worked in a place where the works (not even certified) over measured people (I actually saw it). Poor tactics, as a trainer you should be able to produce results or find out why!
