Can anyone recommend an orthodontist....

Or give me some feedback on these ones?

Dr. Matthew Nissenbaum
N. Wellwood Ave, Lindenhurst

Dr. Joseph Vitagliano
Montauk Hwy, West Islip

DS needs braces and the orthodontist that was recommended by a family member is just too far.

Vitagliano is good. We refer to him, however we are finding that he doesn't favor using pre-appliances like palatal expanders. We see a lot of his patients and his end result is nice. Our patients love his office. We have been impressed with the work from Coolsmiles too.

He declared bankruptcy about 2 years ago and pretty much disappeared in the middle of the night. Prior to that I absolutely loved him, but I am left with a half-finished Invisalign treatment, so I'm not too thrilled!

I never got all the details as to what exactly happened, but I guess about 2.5-3 years ago he closed his office on Route 110 and moved in with other orthodontist. That relationship went south pretty fast and about 6-9 months later everyone got a letter saying he declared bankruptcy. I thought he was one of the top Invisalign guys, so I assume he was making a great salary, so don't know if it was personal debts that got up, or maybe a malpractice case?

We use Dr Joe (Vitagliano) and my daughter loves him, the office is nice and I never wait past 5 minutes for her appt.

My daughter had a palate expander before he put partial braces on. He had no problem putting it in so I disagree with that statement about using them but of course it is only my situation that I can refer to. She was 8.5 when she got the expander in.
