Do you plan on buying less than usual? I have been picking little things up here and there but I plan on re-using many things I already have. I'm definitely not going crazy this year.

Re: Since no Teacher's Choice in NYC this year...

I dont teach in NYc so I have never had teacher's choice $ - but this year I am only buying things like crayons and pencils that my 2nd graders always seem to use up. Everything else I am either making on my own ( math journals, posters I like from Really Good Stuff) or just going without. After 7 yrs, I've learned what I need and what I dont

I will be hitting up dollar stores, and reusing stuff from last year. I can't see spending a lot of money and not being reimbursed. I need to add that I bought fade-less bulletin board paper 2 years ago and haven't replaced it because it looks like new still.

I'll buy a new plan book and some things to get myself organized, but that's it. This will hopefully be my last year so I really don't want to buy anything. I am also lucky that this will be my 15th year so I don't need a lot. I also had a feeling in the spring that TC would be cut so I hoarded and saved whenever I could. Fortunately my bulletin board paper and borders, etc. held up well- I try to reuse that stuff anyway.

I really feel for newer teachers- I think it took me five or so years to build up a good store of my own stuff. I spent way more than the TC but it still helped.

I never count on TC money. I buy what I need. I like to be organized and can not stand when people use things that are old and falling apart. I like things to look fresh and clean. I spend so much over TC anyway to me it doesnt matter.

This is my 5 year and I have probably already spent over $300. This is also because im going from coteaching to solo so alot of our stuff was joined together or I just wanted new.

I will buy paper for my bulletin boards and some stuff to get organized only because after 7 years my bins are falling apart, so I depserately need new ones. Trying to keep it as low as possible.

Buying as little as possible because I know I will need things throughout the year so I will save for that. Plus I'm moving to a smaller classroom this year and have to downsize anyway. My principal sent us an email saying that because of no teacher's choice she bought backing paper and borders for the whole school. I was shocked by that. Hope there is really enough! She also orders planners every year for the kids and one for each teacher. I don't like the style/layout of it at all but I may consider using it this year. Usually I'm willing to spend more but ever since my DS was born I would rather spend it on him!
