Sinus and ear pressure
I went to the doctor last week on Friday and she said my ear was full of fluid but not infected. She put me on a Zpac to clear any sinus infection up.
I called the doctor yesterday because it doesn't feel any better. She called in a prescription for amoxicillin. My ear is still killing me and I still feel a lot of sinus pressure. I have done everything -- steam, decongestants, etc. and I can't get any relief.
Does anyone have any suggestions or have you tried anything OTC that works well???

Did you go to a regular Dr. or an ENT? If an ENT, someone you know is good? Sinus infections can be tricky to clear up - sometimes one antibiotic doesn't work or you need a longer dose or there could be more going on.

Re: Sinus and ear pressure
The Z-pack never works for me. I always remain sick afterwards.
I was just on Amoxicillin for 10 days last month with a sinus infection and it worked but I didn't start feeling better until the 9th or 10th day.
I'd recommend using a saline spray throughout the day. It helps get everything out. Also, you can use a neti pot at home.
Mucinex with Decongestant works really well for me.
I hope you feel better!

Re: Sinus and ear pressure
I had this ! It is a nightmare! Get to an ENT. Not to scare you but if you do not get it drained in a few months you can have hearing loss. I was on antibiotics and a steroid- it did nothing! I tried going to the chiropractor- did nothing- tried Mucinex, allegra, etc, it did not help until I had to have the fluid drained from my ear - I am not going to lie, it hurt, but I am 100 percent better now. It took 4 weeks to fully recover- I went to work the next day, but had to take it easy, and was exhausted. Feel free to FM if you need a good ENT or to talk. Feel better!

Thank you
I am feeling a little better but not back to normal at all. My ENT couldn't see me until next Wed., but that's fine -- at least I have an appointment with one now. I don't want to take any chances because I'm flying in a month also.
The weird thing is I'm not stuffed up or anything at all -- it's just pressure and ear pain on and off. The doctor said my ear was pretty full of fluid in my but I'm so nuts over this I'm wondering if half the problem is anxiety at this point, because I'm also clenching really bad at night too.

Re: Sinus and ear pressure
Barbara, so sorry you're not feeling well!!! I have issues too. I use Benadryl every night, and take Airborne. It seems to reduce mucous. Praying for your healing!!!! Mary
