.8 position
Does anyone know what a .8 position is? Do benefits apply for a .8 position?

Re: .8 position
I'm not sure about the benefits, but in my school you'd be teaching 4 classes instead of 5, and making 80% of a full-time salary.

Same in mine. I know benefits vary district to district.

Re: .8 position
My old district that would be .8 in your area, and .2 as a perm sub. Not sure about benefits.

Re: .8 position
My district usually gives benefits for .5 and over.
it's either 4/5 classes or 80% of the weekly schedule.

Re: .8 position
thanks for the helpful information. it's actually a school social work position so not sure how that would translate. i have an interview next monday so at least I won't have to wait for an answer since school starts soon. I def need benefits though.

Re: .8 position
if it's a .8, I'm pretty sure it comes with benefits. you can try looking up the district contract on seethroughny.net to see if it discusses part-time benefits...

Re: .8 position
I was a .6 my first year. I believe they paid for 60% of the benefits and I had to pay 40%? Does that make sense? Maybe Im not remembering correctly.

I'm not a classroom teacher and I was just recently split between schools. My .2 = 6 hours a week - so my .8 = 29 hours/week (but that includes my prep, travel and lunch time). Just to give you an idea.
