Happy about my DS's speech therapy
I just wanted to share with other special needs parents that I am so happy about my DS's speech therapy. He has apraxia of speech and started Kindergarten. The school district was not able to guarantee he'd receive PROMPT therapy at the school at his meeting in May (nor did they have to apparently). I've been beside myself all summer and we decided at his last session with the PROMPT therapist through CPSE in August that we'd retain her for 1 appt per week and pay privately. Now I've conversed with his in school therapists and he will get private PROMPT 2x a week and regular therapy in a group with 2 other kids 1x a week. I told them he is still going to the outside thrapist (he told them too)and they will all be coordinating to see what's working in school, what they are doing separately and what is working best. Basically sharing ideas and info on him specifically. And my insurance covers my outside therapist except for the copay after a $200 deductible. I dont have a set limit on the visits. I am just so happy to feel like I have my own outside person who is working directly for but also the services from the district being what we were hoping for. So many times I feel like you hit brick walls and snags along the way. I lost many nights of sleep over it this summer as I know many of us do. It was so nice to feel like it is better than we could even hope for.

We get OT at home and it is an incredible help to us. I am glad it is working out and he will get what he needs.

That is great! They say it makes a big difference.
If you don't mind me asking, from whom did you get the diagnosis? How old was your child?
