Incontinence in older dog
My husky turned 13 in August. We have noticed her struggling with the stairs for a while now, and it's getting to the point where we're carrying her up sometimes. Now we have started with incontinence. This dog is turning my kitchen into her personal toilet. On the upside, it's tile so it's not that bad to clean. My floors may never have been do clean as they are these days with a daily mopping. I've been doing some reading that there are treatments for this. Has anyone had any success with the treatments? We have an appointment with the vet next Thursday. I am desperately trying not to blame her, because I know she can't help it. But it's driving me NUTS!!!

Re: Incontinence in older dog
I think there are medications that could help. There are also little doggie diaper things you could probably put on her.

I don't know anyone who has done treatments. Would you be willing to put wee wee pads in a corner of the kitchen?

Re: Incontinence in older dog
If need be I will try wee wee pads, but I honestly don't think they'll absurd it all. Unless they sell a certain kind for bigger breeds?

Re: Incontinence in older dog
I took her to the vet this morning and they gave me an anti-inflammatory to try and see if that helps her mobility. They are also running a urinanalysis and blood work to see if she has a UTI or something wrong with her kidneys or liver. They started her on antibiotics, because the beat case scenario is that it's a UTI.

Re: Incontinence in older dog
My dog takes a pill called Proin for het incontinence. Might be different though bc she would literally just leak without even realizing it. Totally worked for us though.
