Puggle question

For those who have puggles: are they hard to train (does it take forever)? What do you think of their personality?

Eta: Do they bark alot?

I LOVE my puggle. We rescued him when he was 10 months old last year. He's now 2 years old and come a long way.

He was in a foster home with a doggie door, so he seems to do this in and out thing at his convenience which can be annoying. It was a little hard housetraining him in the apt but when we got to the house he took to the leash quite well and does even better with the fenced in yard. He "forgets" what he's supposed to be doing and often just wanders around aimlessly or hunts bugs.

He does bark, but not overly. When there are people out in the street or approaching the house, at other dogs he sees when he's outside or he gets startled.

Because puggles are a mixed breed there is NO guarantee that your puggle will have traits of one breed over the other. Read up on beagles, read up on pugs. Ours looks like a pug, but acts like a beagle more than a pug.

Pug: cuddles, perches on the back of the couch, follows me around, stubborn
Beagle: barks, buries his toys, sniffs at every little thing

my aunt has two puggles and they are kinda wild.......but there is two of them so that adds to it.....and they do bark alot....very loud....

Thanks for the feedback ladies.

I've loved puggles since last year and DH finally agreed that he likes them too, but we both know that now is not the best time to get any dog (baby due in Nov. and we live in an apt. in a high rise, so I would have to walk the dog in winter with an infant when he travels for business, which is alot.) Maybe next spring/summer when we get a place with a yard.

you are just looking for someone to take care of all day!! I am right there with you. I asked DH for a dog last week. Baby coming, currently residing in a hotel, rent an apt that I am not even sure what their pet policy is....but I want to go to a pound so bad and pick out a baby.
