any docs / nurses on the boards?

question for a friend...

her white BC is elevated and a recent MRI showed spots on her liver. she is also having tingling sensations over many parts of her body including extremities, tip of nose and eyes.

any thoughts? at first, I was thinking most of this was caused by stress since her doc said the liver spots were benign but after a round of antibiotcs, her WBC is still elevated - even higher in face than before antibiotcs?

she has seen every doctor under the sun with the exception of a rheumatologist, I suggested she find one.

any thoughts? she is VERY worried, worried sick in fact. she lost both parents very young and is fearful that her health will end up taking her life at a young age as well... Chat Icon Chat Icon

Did they check her LFT's? elevated WBC should signify infection. Could be something as benign as a asymptomatic UTI or undercover respiratory infection. I have even seen them go up with allergies. These results and her symptoms should really be looked into further. I would even think to send her to a neurologist to check why she is having tingling sensations. Good luck

I'm not a doctor by any stretch of the imagination, but have her get evaluated by a Neurologist if she hasn't already.

Elevated WBC and tingling are both symptoms of MS.

I would definately see a rheumatologist. They will do an array of other bloodwork not typically ordered by other MD's. Were any other labs abnormal? Do you know what her ESR (sed rate) is? Or Leukocyte value?

I would say a sign of infection but in order to confirm that I would need to know her leuk, rbc, basically a cbc result.
