progesterone/test results
Hi Ladies..
First many hugs to all!
I just got the results back from my DNC a couple of weeks ago, and basically, there was nothing genetic that caused this to happen. I was also tested for a blood clotting disorder and I don't have anything.
Dr said some of his patients who have had M/C have used Progesterone when trying again.. has anyone tried this and had luck? He said it can get costly and is messy.. any thoughts/advice?
He also mentioned something about my uterus.. but, I did have a successful pregnancy with my son with no issues..
Just sad there aren't any real answers about why this happened, but in the same sense relieved there is nothing going on with me.
Sorry all over the place, but if you have experience with no answers, how did you handle?
TIA

Re: progesterone/test results
YOu only have to take it for the 1st tri... i wouldnt say its costly, at least the one that i have to take... its $25 for 3 boxes of Crinone.
its a totally natural supplement so i have no problem taking it whether i need to or not...
it can get messy though, you should def wear a panty liner!

I agree. although as far as the price, it depends on your insurance. I think if it's not covered, it's something like $225 a box!! .. Although, you don't have to use Crinone, there are generic progesterone suppositories out there. I would try to see if the Crinone is cover first though. It has an applicator and just an all around more pleasant experience!!

Re: progesterone/test results
I used it - but my low prog. was discovered only after I got my bfp.
I didn't find it that messy - I took it for about 5 weeks.
I was told by 2 of my drs that everyone doing infertility treatments take progesterone. I'm not sure if thats true.
Oh - BTW... the progesterone did give me a huge scare exactly 1 week after I came off it -I passed a large blood clot (sorry TMI) and went to the dr immediatly. I thought I miscarried. They told me the only reason that could explain the bleeding was something called withdrawal bleeding from the progesterone. It was a horrible experience.

Re: progesterone/test results
I used progesterone with my DD. My first level came back at 10 (they like to see 20) and they put me on progesterone right away.
With this pregnancy (and the reason I'm here), progesterone came back at 3 and HCG was only 15. I asked to be put on progesterone just in case but it turned out that the HCG went down on the next blood draw anyway.
But it's definitely something that affects a lot of women. There's a whole website where women share their stories http://lowprogesteroneinpregnancy.com/about.html.
