hives

About 3 weeks ago I had a UTI and was put on Cipro. I was really stressed out bc it wouldn't go away. I ended up taking 10 days of cipro. Well a week later I started breaking out in hives... it has been 2 weeks and this is causing me so much stress. I went to an allergist and she said it could be the cipro and it could take weeks/months for the hives to go away. Anyone have this experience?

My son had an allergic reaction (hives) to antibiotics once and they told me the same thing -- that it could take about a month to get out of his system.

I tried Benadryl, steroids -- nothing helped him, and he had hives head to toe. Finally, the PA at the office told me to give him Zantac and it was like a miracle drug for him. I didn't know that you could use Zantac for an allergic reaction, but it worked real well. You might want to give it a try.

Thank you so much! I am going to give it a try. I can't believe it can take this long plus because I am nervous about it I might be making it worse.
