I completely agree w/Ang. The books are amazing and so enjoyable to read. I'm actually a little jealous that you are going to read them for the 1st time. Chat Icon

Agreed!

They are not kiddie at all, and you will see each book gets darker with more and more adult material.

Agreed. The first few books are more youthful, but they are designed that way. They're supposed to grow with the reader and with the character. The last 3 books are not in any way childish in my opinion. I loooooove the books. I've re-read them all a dozen times at least. And I also loved the movies, hell I dressed up and went to the premiere of the last one! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Lets discuss Harry Potter books...

7 books. I LOVE the series.

I would say the first book reads as a children's book. It's a very quick read and it's a standard good and evil story. It's very imaginative and you really get into the world. Once you get to book 3 on, it starts to get darker and darker and VERY adult. The books kind of grew up with Harry and with the kids reading it. I really don't think they're too kiddie. There are so many themes there, and as you get through the series, there are so many hints and thinks that go back to earlier books that you didn't even realize at the time, so it has a lot of depth. Every time a book came out I re-read the entire series, and I've re-read again, so I've read especially the first few many, many times.

The movies were good, the books were better. They get darker and more mature as you progress.

#5 is the best book in the series. You see her writing mature from book 1 to book 7. They are incredibly well written and very quick reads

Order of the Phoenix was my favorite too.

I think these books are exceptional! JK Rowling created a whole new world which I thoroughly enjoyed and now miss.
