So how did everyone do on Christmas?

Just popping in for my bi-monthly-ish check-in? How were everyone's holidays?

Re: So how did everyone do on Christmas?

To answer my own question, I had an anti-Christmas this year. Most of the family was traveling this year so we stayed up very late on Christmas Eve and work up a little late on Christmas Day. Movie marathons, gifts exchanged early on and for me, no putting on a happy face since Christmas marks 2 years since my 3rd loss. It was low key but as perfect as it could get.

Christmas was hard. It hit me at random moments and was terrible. But I made it.

we had a really quiet christmas too and i loved it. i work like crazy so honestly it was nice to have a day "off". DH is jewish and my family is in FL so we just chilled out at home, watched movies and ate! it was a nice day. that said, there is an unspoken sadness on holidays b/c we know we'd rather have a little one to spend the day with.

I know the feeling. We watched the new muppet movie, followed by the entire series of american horror story...totally different than how I always am on Christmas but so perfect!

Christmas was fine for me. I would have been 10 weeks and was planning to announce it to everyone, so I had some sad moments thinking about that. But being around family made my day and DH and I received some good news unrelated to TTC.

Re: So how did everyone do on Christmas?

very distracted between my 7 sisters, 1 brother and 16 out of 18 nieces and nephews running around on Christmas Eve there was no time to ponder on my mc.
I have 2 children so they took most of my attention this weekend and making sure they have a happy Christmas made the day go by smoothly. Food, drinks, gifts, family and of course Santa made our Christmas sad-free!

Hope you all have a wonderful New Year!

Re: So how did everyone do on Christmas?

It was alright, very bittersweet. On one hand I was grateful for been given at least the chance to become pregnant but then on the other hand very angry. I think it was long overdue, I have had the mindset of being positive and staying hopeful and strong (which I still am), but I don't think I gave myself the time to actually grieve.

I am anxiously awaiting new years, and ready to put this year behind me.

Re: So how did everyone do on Christmas?

My cousin's friend joined us (adult) and was really ragging us on why my parents don't have grandchildren. She went on and on for about 20 mins on why we should have kids, we are getting old, my parents deserve grandkids, etc. It wasn't just one innocent comment or question.

My cousin and this lady do not know what we have gone through as I don't think its any of their business. I tried to make a joke of it to diffuse the situation but it was extremely tense.

I felt even worse for my husband, he tends to internalize a lot of things. He hasn't told some of his friends what we went through because they live far away. He was planning on telling a few people this week when he saw them (one person tonight) so I think the whole issue is just top of mind right now for him. I told all my close girl friends at the time it happened (OCT).

I overheard my dad telling this lady what we went through later on during the evening. I was ****** at first because I just really didn't want this to be gossip around the family but at that point, there was nothing I could do other than start family drama. I didn't say anything. Maybe it will teach this lady (and my cousin who has done this too) to stay out of people's business and not be so rude.

I did ok. One little meltdown in the privacy of my own home with my DH. Not bad with all things considering. Still trying to think positive that next Christmas will be different. Chat Icon

Honestly it was okay for me. I wasn't really in the Christmas spirit this year and of course my aunt starts with the question "So when are you guys gonna have a baby?!" (She doesn't know about the miscarriage)

Other than that I managed to enjoy the holiday with mine and DH's family.

Christmas was the day we planned to tell family as we would have been over 12 weeks by then. However, the good thing is that AF came Christmas Eve - first one after my D&C so the day was bittersweet for me.

Re: So how did everyone do on Christmas?

Christmas Day was tough... the only kids at Christmas Eve were my niece and nephew and they dont really have the same affect as other kids... Christmas Day was with Shauns family and there are about 9 kids under 9... so its a lot of little ones...

Re: So how did everyone do on Christmas?

I managed to keep myself busy enough and really not think much about it. Every once in a while during dinner it would hit me that I had planned to tell everyone over Christmas dinner, especially when we all sat down and did the champagne toast, but DH was great and really helped me get through it.
