Re: To those that crochet/knit...
I went to classes at a yarn shop in Sayville to learn to crochet and then I learned knit. I supplement with YouTube videos and have also used Ravelry.com

Re: To those that crochet/knit...
I had a friend teach me how to do just 3 basic stiches on crochet years ago...her Mom was a crocheter and so she knew the basics from watching her...she taught me chain, single crochet and double crochet.
Then I just picked up some other things with experimentation. I've watched some youtube videos, and found one pattern that I was actually able to follow. Most of what I make I've been able to do through trial and error. If it doesn't come out right I just pull it out and try again.
I am signed up to take a class at the library in January. I'd like to make a few things like booties and stuff for the baby.

I learned from a co-worker. We used to have "classes" in the lunch room!
