In your honest opinion... is this crazy?
We have 3 cats. We are very big cat people (well, my dh started as a dog person, but I converted him!!   )
Long story short for those that don't already know... we've gone through a lot of infertility and pregnancy loss lately... and we're thinking of brightening the mood by adding a 4th kitten to the family. We are totally in love with the 3 we already have and are grappling with the idea of adding a 4th...
What do you ladies think? Is 4 bordering on excessive?

Do you think your cats will get along with a new one?
If you have a big enough space, I say go for it. As long as both you and DH are comfortable with it, who cares what others think?
Be prepared for cat lady jokes

I started to get the cat lady jokes when we got our 3rd!! 
Two of our cats are "social" and love each other... the other one, actually Penny is the one who doesn't really like the others!! She tolerates them though.
I think if we got a 4th, three of them would be friends.. and Penny would continue to tolerate them just as she does now...

One day while I was in the RE's office waiting for monitoring, I picked up an IF magazine. There was an article about a woman who would adopt a cat every time she had a loss or a BFN. I believe by the time she started ED she had 8 or 9 She wound up getting BFP and in the end wound up opening up a kitty rescue so something good would have come from all of it Four is certainly NOT too many

Why not? If you both really love them and it would cheer you up, what's one more? I love cats too. We have two, and if DH would let me I would totally get more!

Not at all. Cats are very easy to care for. This is coming from someone who grew up with 5 cats at the same time most of my life (when other times we had over 10, with kittens included).
Go for it!

we have four - i have two outside cats as well that we are care for that are strays. It takes a bit of time for all them to get used to each other but once they get their roles they are cool.

I have to agree with what everyone is saying...as long as your current cats are open to letting in new members of the family, I think it is a fine idea. I don't think one more cat will make much of a difference. Cats are pretty quiet and do their own thing, much of the time.
Just ask yourself how you think the current cats will respond. You know their temperments better then any of us, and how did they respond when you got the 3rd cat?
Hopefully they'll be happy to have a new furry face in the house! Good Luck with it!

Thanks everyone!!!!
I'll update in a few weeks with what we decide to do! We need to get the house straightened up first and get some things in order.. but I have a feeling we will be a family of 6 soon!
(and hopefully a family of 7 soon after  )

first of all tons of  for you!
second of all, if you have the space and the love to give and don't think the other cats would be negatively impacted, I say go for it. Especially a sweet little kitten that needs a home...there are so many of them!

I'd go for it! I have 3 as well (2 being littermates), and I've always wanted to get another. DH says nooo way. We live in a rather small apartment, and I'm already trying to keep with up the 3 we have lol.
Good luck, and make sure to post some pics if you do get one!
