Petco/Petsmart grooming

Does anyone take their dog to be groomed at these types of places? Or have any horror stories as to why you shouldn't? We had our cockapoo groomed once at our local doggie spa and they did a great job, but it was kind of pricey. I have a feeling we're going to have to get him groomed pretty frequently so I'd like to try to find a place that's a little less expensive.

I've used Petsmart in Farmingdale and have had no issues... they were less expensive than my local groomer and the kids were clean and just fine.

We used PetSmart in Levittown. They did a great job and Cosmo loved it there.

Re: Petco/Petsmart grooming

I have used Petsmart 3 times now in Levittown. The first time they did a GREAT job, 2nd time I felt like they didn't do much, and this 3rd time I was really happy. I know the guy's name who worked on her was Tommy so I will bring her there again, and I'll request an appointment with him.

I walked around and peeked back about 15 minutes after I dropped her off, and she was very calm, and he seemed very gentle with her. And he followed my requests to a "T" as far as keeping her fur a certain length and cutting it short in other areas. When I picked her up he said a lot about how well behaved she was and we talked a lot about her claws and he seemed to know what he was talking about, so I'll request him again!

We've taken our dog to Petco to have her nails clipped and have been very satisfied. She has a short coat so she doesn't need any further grooming.

Our neighbors take their fluffy dog to PetSmart every month and are very happy with them.

We took our dog to Petco (in LakeGrove) to be groomed and they did a nice job. We were nervous about how it would go since our dog is not a fan of being bathed/groomed, but she did well and the girl who worked on her was very nice and didn't seem to mind what a handful our dog was.

DH brought both our dogs to the Petco in Patchogue this morning. Instead of just holding down our boy they actually worked on desensitizing him! I was so happy Chat Icon because he is so strong and I want him to learn to get used to it rather than need 3 people to hold him down!

Re: Petco/Petsmart grooming

I have used petco a few times they do a pretty good job but my dog is short haired so they really just wash him and dry him. I started grooming him myself b/c I did not feel it was worth the $50.

Good question. I was wondering about this also, especially for the Valley Stream/Green Acres locations. Any feedback on those?

Re: Petco/Petsmart grooming

I brought our dog to the one in Baldwin and the girl Shaina was AMAZING. Truly loves her job and went above and beyond. I was a little hesitant since I used to bring him to the one in Valley Stream and it got really busy so he got less attention.
