DIY Light Box?
Sooo for my blog, I often find my photos don't come out looking their best. The lighting in my house/my mom's house aren't the greatest and I find the clutter in the background often takes away from my photos. I looked into purchasing a light box, but really, it's not worth it for me to spend all that money on it. I found a bunch of different tutorials on google on how to make your own light box out of different materials (foam board, box, bed sheet, etc.), but I was wondering if anyone on these boards has actually made one themselves and how it worked out? What would you recommend? TIA everyone!

Re: DIY Light Box?
i've made a few for the purpose of taking pictures of my crafts.
the first one i made was using a box. you cut out the majority of the sides and tape white tissue paper in the "wholes." the tissue paper makes the light less "harsh"... this consturction didn't last long. the sides became very flimsy and with kids and a crazy dog... well, you do the math
then i made one using those small-ish spring pop-up hampers. that was sturdier but it started to fray where i cut it. quite frankly, it just got ugly
since then, i've been taking pictures of my knitting outside, in natural light. i'm happy so far.
i think L=http://www.diyphotography.net/diy_project_light_box]THIS[/L] would be the best diy way to go. all the other options i've seen are too flimsy or require to much construction at the moment of use.

I was thinking of the pop-up hampers, too! LOL! I figured I could try all those different ways but they'd most likely just wind up falling over flat.
Oooh that one does look sturdy, but probably beyond my means. Luckily, my aunt is REALLY good with this stuff! lol! I'm going to have her help me make it (meaning I'm going to ask her to do it.) LOL!
ETA: And thank you!!!

Re: DIY Light Box?
I was having the same issue, so for Christmas I bought myself a desktop studio Link
Due to circumstance beyond my control I haven't used it yet, but it seems perfect!

Re: DIY Light Box?
Funny, a blog I read just did this because she's running in to the same situation.
Here's the link to her post & the link to the DIY Light Box she used: DIY Light Box
I find that any of the pictures I take for blogging have to be done in the daylight by the sliding glass doors. There is no natural light in my kitchen whatsoever. Also, I find if I'm planning on making a blog post from a recipe I'm doing I have to do it on a Saturday or Sunday because the week night photos are horrible. Can't wait for daylight after work!

This is my issue exactly!!! I do the bulk of my baking after work so taking photos is just impossible. I literally had every single light in my house on in my kitchen shining in every different direction and photos STILL came out dark. It's also that I have very deep cabinets so they cast HUGE shadows on my stuff! I have glass sliding doors, too, which is where I do most of my photos, but we have a big tree in the front of the house (to the right of the sliding doors) so those are even only good for a few hours each day!
I'm going to try my hand at a DIY light box, but if not, it's good to know that they have one for $100. I'd be willing to spend that much to ease my frustration and take my photos to the next level. lol! Thanks again everyone!
