Need a few GREAT sides
I'm having a small dinner party this weekend for my sister's 40th b-day. My brother, who is a chef, is making a pork roast. I always try to make recipes that are on his level, but feel I always come up short. Anybody have any ideas?
I was thinking of making grilled asparagus, roasted broccoli, sweet potato wedges and mashed potatoes/parsnips.
I'm willing to throw out all my ideas and take any other suggestions. Thanks!

I think your suggestions all sound good!! An easy one thats always good is roasted carrots. I just toss them with extra virgin olive oil, kosher salt, and black pepper and then roast them.

You can never go wrong with anything from Skinnytaste - Gina's side dish recipes
DW makes this all the time - it might go nice with the pork roast: Garlic Mashed Potatoes (lighted up)

Re: Need a few GREAT sides
I made The Pioneer Woman's mashed potatos for Thanksgiving and they were DELICIOUS. Don't be turned off that they have cream cheese in them.

Re: Need a few GREAT sides
This recipe is amazing with roast pork and other roast meats. It sounds weird, but it's a total crowd pleaser. (It's definitely not light, though!)
Carrot Souffle (serves 6 to 8)
1 2 lb bag baby carrots 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, melted 6 eggs 1 cup sugar 6 tablespoons flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 2 teaspoons vanilla
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Boil carrots until fork tender, and drain.
In a food processor (or with an electric mixer), mix the carrots and melted butter. Add in remaining ingredients and mix well.
Pour into a greased 2 quart souffle dish or deep baking dish and bake for 45 minutes, or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. (If the top browns too quickly while baking, lower heat to 325).
