Another french food post- ideas to cook for vday dinner?
DH & I stay in on VDay and cook a fancy meal. Since we ate our faces off in France last year and loved every minute, I thought I could replicate some of those amazing recipes. Of course I'm drawing a blank on some of the things I ate- duck, steaks, artichokes, chocolate mousse).
Any ideas of what we should cook? I'm definitely making chocolate mousse because we ate it every night. And nothing too complicated or detailed since we both work that day! TIA

If you can get your hands on some nice duck breast, I'd make that with a serving of potatoes and spinach cooked in duck fat.
For and appetizer I'd do goat cheese and caramelized onion tarts. You can make this ahead of time and just bake it.
Duck breast is really easy to make. Let me know if you want instructions how to cook it.

Ill ask DH, he's fickle when it comes to duck. As for the tart, YUM!! I'm making one! Do you have any favorite recipes for it?

Do you want something lush and decadent in a sophisticated way.. or are you looking for something a little more French comfort? You could do a filet with mushroom & madeira sauce.. or you could do a chicken fricassee with wild mushrooms and cream. Then it's buttered peas or maybe slim green beans flash sauteed and served simply. There are a million starch things for sides.. potato gratin is a favorite of mine. For dessert.. maybe individual souffles of dark chocolate with a raspberry coulis on the side?

YES! all of the above!
I've never made chicken fricassee, I'm going to check out some recipes. If you have one, please share!

I like the tart from the Balthazar cookbook.
I just use premade crust. I'm lazy like that.

How about a rack of lamb or braised short ribs or lamb shanks?
