Neurologist recs
It was suggested that we consider taking DD to a neurologist. Does anyone have a really good one. I need someone who is really good because the issues we see are those in the classroom not one on one. Also does anyone have a name of someone affiliated with Cornell or Columbia?
Thank you we want to do this ASAP and I understand there can be long waits to get into see someone.

Re: Neurologist recs
Don't know anyone from there. In the past we used Dr. Androlia from Cody Center. After 2 visits I wasn't thrilled. I also used the Developmental Pedi. there and I was very disappointed. I am branching out of Stony Brook and have an appt. with someone new from LIJ. I've heard great things about the practice but I won't know until March. I'm hoping that it will be worth the commuite.

Re: Neurologist recs
See I was hoping maybe I would find someone at Cornell or Columbia. It has been suggested we might want to take her to a neuro because there are signs of possible Auditory processing disorder (which I know isn't diagnosed officially until about 7) but I want someone really good because DD does really well one on one and the issues arise in a classroom or noisy/busy setting. I haven't heard good things about a couple of ones at LIJ which is why I was thinking maybe in the city,

Re: Neurologist recs
I have a cousin in Manhasset so I'll ask her who she takes her son to. UGH, bad things about LIJ- do you know who? I have a friend that works in Ped. Radiology and she told me the Dr. I'm going to is always raved about, now I'm nervous.

If you are thinking auditory processing, try to get in touch with Lois Heymann. I spoke to her over a year ago and thought she was great.http://www.chchearing.org/services/auditory-processing-center
She is a SLP, not a neurologist but she may be able to lead you to a neuro she recommends since she works out Manhattan.

Here's a link to the neurology dept at Cornell. I'd try to get an appt with Dr. Kosofsky if you can, but it's Cornell, they're all going to be top notch.

My next suggestion was going to be to FM Sapphire, she was always has excellent references in the city.
I'm bookmarking this ref. just in case, thanks!

Re: Neurologist recs
I have to recommend Dr. Marcia Bergtraum as well. I was there with my son 2 weeks ago, she was great and I was very pleased.
