Anyone ever contact an author?
I just finished an excellent book (non fiction) called "The Good Daughter" by Jasmin Darznik. It was about Jasmin's mother, growing up in Tehran. It was such powerful book and written so well, I felt compelled to email the author just to let her know how moved I was by the memoir. She emailed me back the next day. I'm a dork. Carry on.

Re: Anyone ever contact an author?
I can relate. I emailed Denis Hamill from the Daily News about two years ago because one of his columns resonated with me. He replied very quickly and I thought that was SO cool; I was running around telling everyone as if he were the Pope or something. Then this fall he was ending his column (but staying on at the News) and I emailed him this long letter to which he never replied (unless I somehow missed it). He probably thought I was some sort of stalker at that point.

Re: Anyone ever contact an author?
I did that after I read Pledged, by Alexandra Robbins. My AP kids were all reading it at the time, and there was a guide in the back of the book with her e-mail address. She wrote back five minutes later, and I couldn't stop telling anyone either (Erin ). Then, she got in touch when she wrote her next book (Overachievers) to see if any of my students would want to be interviewed. She also added me on FB... I feel like I know the woman already. (She did send me a free copy of her last book, so I'm not complaining.) But I guess my story is not that unusual (according to my DH, who works in publishing) because apparently, authors are all over social media these days to try to get more readers. (And I thought I was special. )

Re: Anyone ever contact an author?
I've contacted a few to see if they could speak at my library.
Usually on the back flap of the book is their website where you can find a link to contact them. If there's nothing mentioned, you can google them. Most have an "official" website. I"m sure she's love to hear from you.

Re: Anyone ever contact an author?
Michal, that is amazing. A little brush with celebrity, almost, and one with a brain.
My dad actually recently emailed an author. I forget his name- it was a non-fic book. He asked a question, the author wrote back and said he was on the road and had his research at home. But he said he'd email my dad back when he got back. I hope he does. My dad was quite tickled by the experience. I would be too.

Re: Anyone ever contact an author?
I haven't, but my mom did. She got a response after a few months asking her to contribute a story to the upcoming book she was working on!
