UPDATE stahl eye center

anyone use them and if so, what was your experience? tia!

UPDATE: Horrible!! The assistant was rude, said things like 'read the chart with your glasses on because i know you can only count fingers without them.' then the dr comes in, spends 5 minutes with me and asks if i want my eyes diluted for $100 and that it comes off the surgery bill if i go through with everything. It's non-refundable if I don't have the surgery but AM a candidate. i told him i never heard of anyone doing something like that and he said 'well we have to make it worth our while.' so i got up and left.

he later emailed me and said that he felt our meeting didn't go well and he would dilute my eyes for free.

Re: stahl eye center

I had my surgery there and absolutely hated my experience. I found the doctor to be a huge jerk and I was very uncomfortable when they did the second eye, because they numbed both eyes at the same time so I think the other one may have been less numb by the time they got to it. The doctor was really rude and insensitive and just made me uncomfortable. They also claimed I had 20/20 vision for the entire first year after my surgery (even though I noticed a huge difference by 7 months) and then suddenly the first appt after the year mark - when they were no longer responsible to adjust it for free - it had "regressed a lot". Gimme a break.

My parents both had surgeries back when Dr. Stahl first started doing the surgeries here, and they loved him, but IMO the quality of the treatment has gone way down in that office since it became such a booming industry.

Had Lasik there 4 yrs ago with Dr. Werner. Had an amazing experience, no complications & no regrets.

Edited to add that my BF & her sister got it there too but I see she (Lisko) already wrote that in the other post. I also wanted to add how she poked herself in the eye soon after surgery, with her car keys & messed up her healing eye. We called him & she was seen by him within the hour.
Good Luck.

Re: UPDATE stahl eye center

I had surgery there 2 years ago, I thought they were excellent. I haven't had any complications and everyone was always super nice.
That stinks you didn't have the same experience

Dilute your eyes? Why would they do that?

Unless I'm thinking dialation, and even still I dont know why they would do that either.

Re: UPDATE stahl eye center

Wow. Sounds terrible! Sorry you had such a bad experience there. I highly highly recommend going with dr donnenfeld at tlc in garden city. When I used them 3 yrs ago, I had nothing short of a wonderful experience! He is sooo very nice and his staff then was so accommodating and made me feel so at ease. Id do it again 10x over with them.

Re: UPDATE stahl eye center

OMG that's terrible.

DH is thinking about this and he will use his eye doc at South Shore Eye..

Not all "Lasik" clinics are good. An eye doc who specializes in Corneas is a good choice.

Dr. Luchs at South Shore Eye has written at least one book on the subject. Dr. Flicker there is a specialist as well.

They are in Wantagh but have a Massapequa location I think.
