A tree grows in Brooklyn
I am reading a tree grows in Brooklyn , and i find it interesting because it reminds me of the stories my grandma used to tell me of growing up poor in Brooklyn and finding little bits of tin and tires and stuff with her brother and selling them. it also takes place in Williamsburg where my husband is from so i know all the streets they are talking about but is there going to be an actual plot to this book? i am on page 200 and although i feel like i have to finish this book i feel like there may be no real climax to this book! Is there?

Re: A tree grows in Brooklyn
I read it so long ago that I'm not sure. (i read it freshman year of high school, so about 20 years ago. yikes). But, I do remember really enjoying it, whether or not there was a specific plot.

hmmm that's a good question! Like the pp, I remember reading it over & over as a kid & loving it. I remember I loved the ending. I don't remember if there was one particular conflict but I think it was more a coming-of-age story.

Re: A tree grows in Brooklyn
This is one of my favorite books of all time. It doesn't have a traditional "plot" really. It's kind of a series of vignettes about the family's life at different stages.

THIS. It's one of my favorite books. it's a coming of age story. It's really about the events that shaped Francie's life and her character development
