New School and First time on the bus

Since DS qualifies for the local early learning center Special Ed program he'll be going on a bus to go to school part-time everyday.
It's literally the week after he turns 3. At the meeting they explained it's a smaller bus with an aide, 5 pt harness seatbelts and they sing songs, etc on the bus.
I am just so nervous to put him on the bus. WIll he be ok? Hyserical? Be so confused b/c I'm suddenly sending him off on a new type of transportation to a new school with new kids, teachers, etc.
He's been at this daycare for almost 2 years and gets a little extra special attention, love and affection.
Now he's going into a program that's half the day. As much as he learns in daycare it's still a different envirorment. A big school with lots of classes rather than a small school. Teachers that gives hugs and he sits on their laps and now since it's a public school they are told to not to show affection.
Am I overthinking all this?
I know he'll be fine, but it seems like so much all at once.

Re: New School and First time on the bus

HUGGGSSS!!!!! it's hard... it was hard for us, to send him to school at 2 years old (we drove him them) but he did great... at 3 (3 weeks after he turned 3) he got on the school bus and was sooo excited. he LOVEs the bus.

next year he will be walking (we turned down bussing since we live 10 houses from the school) and i won't have to worry about bussing for another 6 years.

he will do great... if he cries, don't give in... thats what they want, its hard, but they will stop... the first day he took the bus i followed it...

it gets easier...

Re: New School and First time on the bus

I was so nervous sending DS on the bus. He had just turned three and we leave for work at 6:15am. He gets the bus (for a year now) from my in laws in St. James and it's a 25 minute drive. He gets the bus to us at home in the afternoon to Port Jeff, which is 45-60 minutes. He loves it. His driver and Matron are wonderful. I couldn't be happier with his experience.

Re: New School and First time on the bus

My son was 3 when he took the bus. I cried the first time but knew he was going to a place that could help him. He was on the bis for 1 hr 20 minutes for a school 25 minutes away and was a 2 1/2 hr class. He spent more time on the bus than in class. But loves the bus.
