Yes... another race day question.
Sorry if I am being annoying. I am really just so nervous about this.
When I go to the race (its the LI Marathon 5k) website it says no where what time you should get there. In fact there are 3 places that list the start time. 2 have 8:30 and 1 has 8:00. As far as I can see there is no contact information anywhere on the site. I don't even know what group is in charge of it.
What time should I arrive?

Re: Yes... another race day question.
The 5k starts at 8:30. The 1 mile fun run starts at 8:00.
How far away are you? I always arrive at least a half hour before race time all ready to go. If its a larger race where I anticipate traffic, bad parking, or long restroom lines I will go even earlier. They will usually line everyone up at the start line 15 minutes before start time.
Don't be so nervous, it is going to be fun.

Re: Yes... another race day question.
I did the LI half two years ago and there are a LOT of people. I think about 5,000 ran it that year. I got there about an hour early just to make sure we got a parking spot. Then we had to walk about a half mile to the start. I like to have time to go to the bathroom too.

Re: Yes... another race day question.
If you can have someone drop you off that's the best thing. When I ran the LI 10k my mom dropped me and my dad off (he was running the full). It gets crowded and alot of people have to park pretty far away. I'd get there about an hour earlier to make sure you get there on time and in case you have to go to the bathroom.

Re: Yes... another race day question.
My DH and I usually get to a race at least one hour ahead of time. About 1 hour before the race, we both do a 20-30 minute warm up jog and then my DH has like 10 minutes of drills that he likes to do.

Re: Yes... another race day question.
the 5K is the day before the 10K, half-marathon and marathon and very empty! Not anything like Sunday will be. I went to watch my sister 2 years ago and we got a parking sport in the parking lot where it started.
I would get there before the fun run though, b/c they will start blocking of sections.
The fun run was first, so I would imagine that you are starting aat 8:30

Thanks so much! I guess I will aim to get there around 7:45. That way I can shower the night before, make and pack up a quick omlet, got to WW at 6:45, weigh in, eat the food in the car and drop off my son at my mom's and head over to the race. Drinking water from the weigh in on. Crazy morning. I would do WW the next morning but, we have a cinco de mayo party that night and I don't want to have to sit around miserable because I have a weigh in the next day.
