Want to save on gas?

I paid $2.86/gallon tonight for gas!!!

As you can tell from the couponing threads, I love to coupon. I read on one of the sites I go to for all my deals, Living Rich With Coupons, that Shoprite is having a deal on gift cards -- buy $50 worth (except for Shoprite GC) and get $10 towards your next purchase. I bought 2 $25 gift cards to Gulf and got my $10 coupon for my next shopping trip. Anyway, on to the exciting part lol...

I went to fill up my car at Gulf where it was $3.85/g for cash, $4.85/g for credit ( ). I put in the gift card and the price went down to $2.86/gallon!

If you think about, you're spending that money on gas anyway, might as well get more gas for your buck and just buy a gift card for gas ahead of time! Plus, through Saturday, if you buy $50 worth of giftcards from Shoprite, you will also get the $10 off your next food shopping! Win-Win!

ETA: My receipt for gas said that there was a .999/gallon discount for using a giftcard!

ETAA: As far as I know, this only works at Gulf stations. Not sure if other gas stations offer the same discount.

They had no Gulf cards when I went, so I bought 2 shell cards instead. I got the cash price at the pump and saved $10 on my next purchase. This was a great idea. I might do this all the time, because I like to use my cc to buy gas to earn rewards but hate paying the x-tra 10cents per gallon. I might just buy gas cards instead.
