Spinoff to Letter to Teacher: Next Year Placement Letter
The principal sent out a note that if we want to write a letter regarding placement for next year to send one to them. I have a very specific and a few nonspecific reasons why I do not want them to have the same teacher that they had in K. How do I write this letter? Do I put specifics in it? Do I put if he wants specifics to contact me? I don't want to go into specifics if it is not needed, I just don't want to ignore it and have one of them placed in her class.

Just say that while they had a good experience in Mrs x's class in kindergarten, you'd rather they experiences with varying teaching styles in the future, so you'd like to request that they be placed in other teachers' rooms next year. 
No need for specifics unless you want to share. They don't need to know and will respect your wishes regardless.

I am so jealous. Our district actually sends out just the opposite.. they tell us not to bother asking for specific teachers or placement!
If I were you I would probably just send a letter requesting that neither of your boys get Ms. X for the next school year. I wouldn't bother going into any kind of detail unless specifically asked unless the teacher was somehow abusive or unprofessional.

Ours too. We can only ask for a specific teacher (or not a specific teacher) if we've had first-hand experience with them (ie, only the 2nd or later children, if the 1st or later child had that teacher already...), and even then, we can only do it once during their school career.

They won't allow specific teacher requests, like I want my child to be in this class. It is also if there is something else that might be going on that we want them to take into consideration kind of thing.
Thanks for the advice, now I need to actually write these letters.

No advice, but why would your children have the same teacher next year? Are they repeating Kindergarten? Is the teacher supposed to be moving to teach 1st grade next year?

Teacher's move around. My son's 2nd grade teacher moved to 4th and we are hoping to get her again. My DD teacher (kindergarten) taught 5th last year.

They are in first. Their k teacher from last year moved to 2nd grade this year, and I am assuming she will be there again this year since they will need the same amount of 2nd grade teachers.
